FAQ

PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) is the world's leading diving organization with more than forty years of tradition. Founded in 1966 by diving instructors John Cronin and Ralph Erickson, it is today represented by over 136,000 professional members and 6,200 PADI centers and resorts.

PADI offers diving courses for all categories of divers, from complete beginners to professional categories such as "divemaster" and diving instructor, and operates in the field of technical diving under the PADI TecRec brand.

PADI's learning system consists of individual modules with standardized learning objectives in providing both theoretical and practical content. When an individual masters both, he or she obtains the appropriate internationally valid diving certificate.

You do not need a medical certificate to dive if you answer "NO" to the presence of the listed medical conditions on the medical statement. If you have any of the listed medical conditions, you must consult a doctor and obtain the appropriate certificate before diving.

Our diving center is located in Koper, in the Watersports Center, at Istrska cesta 70. The theoretical parts of the courses take place in the diving center in Koper, while the practical part takes place in Koper and other locations on the Slovenian coast, reachable by boat.

Yes, after successfully completing the course, you receive an international diving card from the PADI diving school - Professional Association of Diving Instructors. It is the largest diving organization in the world and its diving certificates are internationally recognized, so there is no need to worry that your certifications will not be recognized on your vacation.

The minimum age to join a PADI Jr Scuba Diver or PADI Jr Open Water Diver beginner diving course is 10 years. Younger children (8+) can participate in programs that do not yet lead to a certificate, but they can gain their first experiences which will help them in their further diving education. Such programs are PADI Bubblemaker and Padi Skin Diver.

Different courses have different age restrictions, which can be found in the description of each course.

For beginner courses, you should bring a swimsuit, towel and a container of water, as hydration is extremely important, especially during the summer. Equipment rental is included in the price of the course in these cases. For courses that follow the beginner ones, it is recommended that participants who have already gained some knowledge of equipment also purchase some of their own equipment. Regardless, all recreational courses include equipment rental.

However, this does not apply to courses for obtaining professional categories such as PADI Divemaster, PADI Assistant Instructor and PADI Instructor (various types of instructor categories).

At our dive center we offer the option of renting all diving equipment. In the case of taking courses, equipment rental is already included in the price of the course (this does not apply only to courses for obtaining professional categories like divemaster and assistant instructor, where the participant must have their own equipment).

If you already have your own equipment (e.g. mask, snorkel, wetsuit, fins, etc.), of course, bring it with you.

A dive computer is highly recommended and is considered the standard in recreational diving today. On diving courses that require the use of a dive computer, we will rent it to you, but we strongly recommend that divers purchase their own computer, as it provides the diver with all the information needed to safely perform the dives.

Yes, you can use contact lenses while diving, but some caution is required. It is recommended that you carry a spare pair of lenses and glasses to use after the dive, if you use them. An alternative is diving masks with optical lenses. Such masks must be ordered separately.

For additional advice on underwater vision, you can consult an instructor or optician who has experience with divers.

No, swimming skills are mandatory for all diving courses that we offer at our diving center. In addition to knowing how to swim, it is important that the course participant feels comfortable in the water.

There is a large parking lot in the immediate vicinity of the diving center along the main road. Given that the price of parking there is relatively high, for longer parking, it is better to choose the significantly cheaper parking lot 544, located next to Badaševica. The location of the parking lot is at the following link. There is a 15-minute walk from the parking lot to the diving center. If you have your own diving equipment, bring it to the diving center first and then go to the parking lot.
